Hand made indigenous art jewellery
The jewellery listed from 001 to 005 has been hand made from nuts and seeds collected by Anmatjerre women on their Community, Laramba. This community is 200 k north west of Alice Springs and has 300 residents. Paula has accompanied them and helped collect the seeds, has been shown how to burn holes in them and to paint some before threading them with wool. In the old days they used hair to thread. We were fascinated as I'm sure you will be, by the artistic talent , patience and diligence displayed by these women.
The next group of necklaces are built by a young Aboriginal woman who has used modern tools and techniques to achieve beautifuly balanced work involving ininti seeds,crystals in some cases, and glass beads.
